Newcastle in advanced talks with Palace chief Freedman

Newcastle United are said to be in advanced talks to appoint Dougie Freedman as Dan Ashworth's successor.

The director of football is set to join Manchester United in the coming weeks or months.

While the two clubs are working out compensation, Newcastle have already found his replacement.

Crystal Palace man Freedman was one of the candidates for the same post at Man United as well.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal could be concluded within a matter of days.

Freedman believes he has done all that he can at Palace and may want a new challenge.
