Indianapolis Colts Receive Huge Injury Update On Key Offensive Piece
Robert Scheer/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

Looking ahead to the upcoming 2024 NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts are a team that no one knows what to expect from. They could be a serious contender in the AFC, or they could miss the playoffs and be in play for a high draft pick. Truly, there is nothing known for sure about the team.

However, there is no denying the talent that the Colts have on their roster. With young quarterback Anthony Richardson back on the field and at full health, there is a major buzz rising in Indianapolis.

One of the biggest issues for the team over the past couple of seasons has been injuries. They have dealt with more than their fair share of health problems. Thankfully, they seem to be in a good place heading towards the 2024 season.

Indianapolis Colts Receive Huge Injury Update On Key Offensive Lineman

During the 2023 season, the status of Braden Smith was a roller coaster. He dealt with injury issues all season long due to his knee and missed quite a few games. While we’re still a ways out from the 2024 season, Smith provided a huge injury update on himself.

“I feel like I’m in a pretty good spot. [My] strength’s coming back, just making sure I can get to the season healthy and make sure we’re being smart with things.”

Standing in at 6-foot-6 and just over 310 pounds, Smith is one of the most important pieces of the Indianapolis Colts’ offense. Without him on the field, the team’s offensive line struggled. On the flip side, when he was on the field, the offensive line played at their best.

As the Colts look to keep Richardson upright and healthy, they will need their offensive line to stay health. Smith will be a huge key in protecting the young quarterback.

On the outside looking in, the Indianapolis Colts look more like a playoff contender than a high draft pick team. They have some great offensive pieces in Richardson, Jonathan Taylor, and Michael Pittman Jr. Defensively, they have struggled at times, but the talent is there for them to take a step forward in 2024.

Shane Steichen is entering his second season as the Colts’ head coach. He was just one score away from leading his team to the playoffs in 2023. They have a good chance to build off of that and finally get back into the postseason this year.

Hopefully, the Indianapolis Colts continue to get good health updates on Braden Smith as the season draws closer. If they want to make the playoffs, they’ll need their offensive line to perform well and stay healthy.
