Darrisaw added to Vikings' Thursday injury report, Blackmon downgraded
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

The Vikings' initial injury report on Wednesday wasn't great, and Thursday only brought a bit of bad news on that front. Star left tackle Christian Darrisaw was added to the report with an illness, while rookie corner Mekhi Blackmon (shoulder) was downgraded from limited to DNP.

Everything else remained the same. No practice again for Byron Murphy Jr., Brian O'Neill, Jalen Nailor, and Jaquelin Roy. Limited participation again for Harrison Smith, Ed Ingram, Theo Jackson, and Nick Muse. That's not to mention recent IR additions T.J. Hockenson, D.J. Wonnum, and Troy Dye.

The Vikings have a very slight shot at sneaking into the playoffs if they can pull off an upset over the Lions on Sunday, but it would be hard to win in Detroit even at full strength. With Minnesota's current injury situation, it's going to take an extremely impressive performance from the healthy components of the roster to get that done.

If Darrisaw's illness is significant enough for him to miss the game and O'Neill can't play through his ankle injury, the Vikings would have to turn to two backup tackles. Presumably, that would mean David Quessenberry on one side and Hakeem Adeniji on the other.

With DNPs for Murphy and Blackmon, the Vikings are still very banged up at cornerback, too. Akayleb Evans, Andrew Booth Jr., Jaylin Williams, and Joejuan Williams are the healthy options there.

Check back tomorrow for the final injury report with game designations.
